Corner Brook is located on the Western shores of Newfoundland at the mouth of the Humber River. It is the largest city in Western Newfoundland and the third largest in the entire province. The area originally started out mostly as a lumber and fishing community as well as railway operations. Today it serves as a service center for most of Western and Northern Newfoundland with plenty of local shopping and restaurants.
The pulp and paper mill is still a major employer for the residents of Corner Brook as is the regional hospital. There are three colleges in the area - Memorial University Grenfell Campus, Academy Canada, and College of the North Atlantic. This drives a lot of the rental market in the area and is very appealing to rental investors.
There are a lot of activities to enjoy. The Arts and Culture Centre promotes various events throughout the year and the Civic Centre is host to many sporting events and trade shows. The Corner Brook Stream Trail is a network of walking trails that runs North and South through the city and through Margaret Bowater Park. The Blow Me Down Trails is a vast network of cross country and snowshoe trails and just a short five minute drive outside of town you'll find Marble Mountain, a renowned ski resort.
